During the hearing of the rape case of Uttarakhand agitating women, a 75-year-old victim told the court that she cannot tell everyone what happened to her 30 years ago. During the cross-examination, another victim said that she was present in the bus and was not aware of the incident.

After the cross-examination of the defence with both the victims, the court fixed July 16 for the next hearing. The hearing of the case of rape of protesting women at Rampur Tiraha three decades ago was held in Special POCSO Act Court-2. The CBI presented two victims on Friday. After their main statements, senior defence lawyer Surendra Sharma conducted cross-examination. So far, the testimony of 31 people has been completed in the court in this case.

The clash took place on 2 October
There was a movement going on in the hilly region for the formation of a separate state of Uttarakhand. On October 1, 1994, the agitators left for Delhi in various vehicles demanding the formation of Uttarakhand. They were stopped at Rampur Tiraha in Chhapar police station area. On the night of October 2, there was a clash between the police and the agitators. Seven agitators were killed in the firing. While the police and PAC were accused of raping, molesting and looting the agitating women.

CBI had filed chargesheet
The CBI had investigated the rape and molestation case and filed a chargesheet in the court. Out of this, in the Government vs Milap Singh case, on March 18, the court had sentenced two former PAC personnel to life imprisonment for raping a protesting woman. While the hearing of the Government vs Radha Mohan Dwivedi case is going on in ADJ Anjani Kumar’s POCSO Court-2. The court has issued an order to conduct the hearing of the case every day.
