This is Manju Devi’s 6 month old son Vaidik. He is currently with his grandparents.

Daily newspaper The team of reached the homes of the 8 people arrested in this case. Tried to know their circumstances, responsibility in satsang and their association with Baba. First let’s go to Manju Yadav’s house…

She used to give water in satsang, now she is a conspirator
Manju Yadav’s house is in Kachora village, about 10 km from the stampede site. There is a government ration shop at her house. She got married 10 years ago. She has three children. The youngest son is just 6 months old. When we reached home, Manju’s mother-in-law Savitri Devi was taking care of the children. When we asked about the children’s father, we came to know that he lives outside.

When asked about Manju’s arrest, Savitri said- On the morning of 4th July, three policemen in plain clothes came to the house and started banging the shutter. When Manju and I got up, those people said that they have come from Baba’s place. Come quickly, we have been called. After this, those people took Manju away.

No one else in Manju’s family is connected to Baba
Manju’s sister-in-law Vipin Devi’s husband has passed away. We asked if anyone else in the family is involved? Savitri says – No one from the family is involved in satsang. I had told Manju a few days ago that you have small children, why do you run after satsang? But she did not stop going to satsang. That is why she was arrested.

Manju’s father-in-law Satya Dev Singh has retired from the post of SI in the police department. He says- Women are very emotional. The entire fault in this entire incident is of the administration, they did not make arrangements. Manju had gone there to fulfill a wish. Now if any untoward incident happens there, then what is her fault?

She lives alone away from her husband and is now among the accused
Now let’s go to the house of the second Manju, i.e. Manju Devi. Her house is about 300 meters away from Manju Yadav’s house. Manju has no relationship with her husband. She has a son and a daughter who live outside. Manju lives alone in a rented house in Kachora. After the arrest, the house is now locked. Mithilesh lives in front of her house.

She says- Manju has been living here for 10-12 years. She is associated with Baba’s satsang. We were also asked to come along, but we did not go. Now the police have arrested us.

The wife cried and said- we live in a one room house, he made us the accused
Our team reached the house of Mukesh Kumar, the third accused arrested in the Hathras case, in New Colony Damdpura. It was a one-room house. The kitchen and bed were in the same house. Instead of Bhole Baba, there was an idol of Lord Krishna and a photo of Ganesh ji in the house. Since his arrest, his wife Sangeeta is in a bad state due to constant crying.

Sangeeta says- My husband runs the family somehow by teaching the children. He did not even go to the satsang on 2nd July. Three people in plain clothes came and said that we have come on behalf of Baba, come with us. There will be some inquiry and after that we will come back. Those people took him away, but then he did not return.

Sangeeta further says- I have a one room house. Got married in 2010. Had a child in 2017. The child had a hole in his intestine, I spent 5 lakh rupees to get the operation done. Till date I have not been able to repay the loan. Now this has happened to me.

Mukesh’s mother also repeats the same. She says- He did not even go to Baba’s satsang. Someone in the locality wrote his name in the committee and now he has been arrested. Tell me how will his family survive now.

Sangeeta is crying a lot since her husband was arrested. She lives in a one-room house. She has to live, cook and eat in the same room.

Neither he is the organiser nor did he attend the satsang, still accused
Our team reached Firozabad after Hathras. Here in Shikohabad, 63-year-old Upendra Yadav has been arrested. We reached Upendra’s house. There we met his nephew Ashish. He says – Our uncle was neither in the organizers list nor did he go to that program. Despite this, he was arrested. His name has been kept in others in the FIR copy too. Upendra has three sons, all of whom are married.

Upendra’s son Nirbhay says- The government is playing politics in this matter. What is our father’s fault? We appeal to Yogi ji with folded hands to get this matter investigated impartially. Whoever is guilty should be punished.

Upendra’s younger brother Ravindra says- Our brother is currently associated with the Samajwadi Party. Earlier he was associated with the BSP. He used to go to Sakar Hari’s satsang, but when he came back he did not talk much to us on this matter.

He was engaged in security at the satsang, police arrested him
Police has arrested Ram Ladayate Yadav of Bhanpur in Mainpuri. 61-year-old Ram Ladayate is a farmer. He has two sons and two daughters in his family. For the past one and a half years, he has been providing security in the satsang by serving as a sevadar of Bhole Baba. Ram Ladayate was doing stage side duty in the satsang in Hathras. He was also arrested from his house on the morning of 4th July.

We reached Bhanpur village. We met Ram Ladayate’s daughter Anupam. She says- When he reached Etah, he got a call that an accident had happened. When Papa came home, he told the same thing to us. We also came to know when we saw it on the phone. Our Papa wears uniform and looks after the security work. If there is a jam on the road, he gets it cleared. No one else goes to our house, only Papa goes.

Police let him go once, but arrested him again
Police has also arrested Ram Prakash Shakya of Khanketal village of Mainpuri. 61-year-old Ram Prakash Shakya is a farmer. He has three children. Ram Prakash Shakya has been associated with Bhole Baba for the last 5 years. Whenever he is free from farming, he goes to Baba’s ashram. He also stands in security.

We reached Ram Prakash’s house, where we met his wife Satyavati. She says- Police came on Thursday morning and took him away. They questioned him and then released him. But in the evening they called him again and arrested him and sent him to Hathras. What is his fault? He was standing at the vehicle parking area.
