After the election of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation Executive, the process of election of the Deputy Chairman of the Corporation has now begun. The Municipal Corporation has finalised the schedule for the election of the Deputy Chairman. This election will be held on the basis of numerical strength in the Municipal Corporation Executive meeting on 11th July.

If more than one member is a contender then there will be an election
The Municipal Corporation office has completed preparations for the Deputy Chairman election and has released the election program. The election process will begin on July 11 at 12 noon. If more than one candidate presents their candidature, then voting will be held from 1:30 pm to 2 pm. Otherwise, the election will be held without voting.
12 members can elect by mutual consent
12 members of the executive will vote for the election of the Deputy Chairman. There are 9 members from BJP, 2 from SP and 1 from Congress. All these members can also elect the Deputy Chairman by mutual consent. If this does not happen then the election process will be completed.
Tough competition between Rajesh Yadav Chullu and Narsingh Baba
Senior BJP members in the House Executive include Councillors Narsingh Das, Rajesh Yadav Chullu and Shyam Asare Maurya. Amardev Yadav of SP is also one of the senior members. If the councillors are to be believed, the state government is constantly making efforts to woo the Yadav vote bank. MP CM Mohan Yadav had held several meetings in Yadav dominated areas during the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, Councillor Rajesh Yadav Chullu seems to have the upper hand.
