Bumrah selected as ICC Player of the Month: Rohit and Gurbaj left behind; Smriti Mandhana won in the women’s category

Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets in 8 matches of T20 World Cup.

India’s fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has been given the Player of the Month award by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC announced this on Tuesday. Among the women cricketers, India’s star batsman Smriti Mandhana has received this award.

The award is given by the ICC for the best cricketer in the month of June. This is the first time that players from the same country have won both the men’s and women’s awards in the same month.

Apart from Bumrah, T20 World Champion Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz were nominated. While England’s Maia Bouchier and Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne were included for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month.

Bumrah performed brilliantly in every match
Team India’s fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah also performed very well in the T20 World Cup. He bowled at an economy of 4.17 in 8 matches and also took 15 wickets. He was the second top wicket taker for Team India. He was also the Player of the Series.

After receiving the ICC Player of the Month award, Bumrah said, ‘I feel very happy to be the June ICC Player of the Month. The last few days have been great for us. It is a very special feeling to win the tournament by performing brilliantly, I will always keep these memories with me. During this, I congratulate captain Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their excellent performance. Finally, I want to thank my family, fellow players and coaches.’
