1. PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal announced flag bearers for Paris Olympics 2024: On July 8, Indian Olympic Association President P.T. Usha announced badminton star PV Sindhu as the women’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. At the same time, the responsibility of the flag bearer of the Indian men’s team has been given to table tennis player A Sharath Kamal.
The flag bearer is the first person to lead his country’s contingent during the opening ceremonies and parades of the Games.

2. Adani Group is the main sponsor of the Indian team for Paris Olympics 2024: On July 8, Gautam Adani announced to sponsor the Indian team for Paris Olympics 2024. He launched the Desh Ka Geet campaign to boost the morale of the Indian athletes participating in the Paris Olympics. Apart from this, a documentary was also launched.
This campaign run by the Adani Group focuses on those athletes who have worked hard to represent the country at the Paris Olympics.
- This group has also been the main sponsor of the Indian Olympic team in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
- Since 2016, the Adani Group has supported 28 athletes from sports including boxing, wrestling, tennis, javelin throw, shooting, running, shotput, archery, among others.

3. HCL Tech Roshni Nadar receives France’s highest civilian award: Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of FX Technologies, has been conferred the country’s highest civilian award ‘Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur’ (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by France for her contribution to the business world.
The award was presented to Roshni Nadar by the French Ambassador Thierry Mathieu during a special ceremony at the Residence of France in Delhi.
- Roshni Nadar was given the award for her work in promoting economic ties between France and India as well as her commitment to social and environmental causes.
- Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, is the first woman to lead one of India’s top IT companies.
- He is the only child of HCL founder and billionaire businessman Shiv Nadar.
- In 2019, she was ranked 54th on the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list.
- According to IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List (2019), Roshni is the richest woman in India.

4. Patanjali stopped the sale of 14 products: Patanjali Ayurveda Limited told the Supreme Court on Tuesday, July 9, that it has stopped the sale of 14 products. The manufacturing license on these 14 products was suspended by the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority in April.
The Supreme Court was hearing the petition of the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Now the next hearing will be on July 30.
- The case of Patanjali Ayurveda Limited is being heard by Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Sandeep Mehta.
- Patanjali told the bench that it has also issued directions to 5,606 franchisee stores to withdraw these products.
- Apart from this, instructions have been given to withdraw all advertisements related to these 14 products from the media platforms.
- Earlier, the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority had informed the Supreme Court that the manufacturing licenses of 14 products of Patanjali Ayurveda Limited and Divya Pharmacy have been suspended with immediate effect.
- IMA’s petition filed in the Supreme Court has accused Patanjali of running a campaign against the COVID vaccination drive and modern systems of medicine.
- IMA is an organization of doctors, which includes doctors associated with the ‘Modern Scientific System of Medicine’.

5. Modi attended the 22nd India-Russia annual summit: PM Modi is on a 2-day visit to Russia after 5 years. Modi attended the 22nd India-Russia annual summit today i.e. on 9 July.
He arrived at Vnukovo-2 International Airport in Moscow at 5 pm on July 8. There he was welcomed with a guard of honor. During the welcome, the Russian army played the tune of the Indian national anthem.
Before attending the India-Russia Annual Summit, the Prime Minister visited ‘The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’, a memorial site for Russian soldiers killed during World War II, and paid homage.

History of 09 July: Bombay Stock Exchange was started on this day in 1875. Due to the rapidly growing business in Mumbai, the traders thought of forming an association and kept the entry fee to become a member at Rs 1. In 1957, the Government of India recognized the Bombay Stock Exchange under the Securities Contract Regulation Act. Bombay Stock Exchange is the first stock exchange in the country to get this recognition.
