‘Instilled a Culture of Excellence’: BCCI’s Jay Shah Lauds Rahul Dravid’s Efforts as Team India Head Coach – News18

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was all praise regarding Rahul Dravid’s tenure as Head Coach of the Indian team which has come to an end.
Rahul Dravid’s tenure as Team India’s head coach for a five-year stint will certainly be close to the hearts of the nation’s ardent cricket lovers. Following the theme, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has taken to social media to thank the legendary figure for his contributions to Indian cricket.
On his official handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, Shah thanked Dravid for his successful stint as the head coach of the senior India men’s cricket team. It was under his coaching that the Men in Blue were able to end their long-standing ICC title drought as they lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

“His strategic acumen, persistent efforts to nurture talent and exemplary leadership have instilled a culture of excellence within the team and that is also the legacy he leaves behind,” said Jay Shah in his note thanking Dravid’s contributions.

With Dravid as the head coach, India was certainly a dominant force across all formats as they reached the finals in the World Test Championship, the ICC ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup as well. But despite falling short in the 5-day and 50-over finals, Dravid managed to end his tenure on a positive with the Indian team beating South Africa to claim the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.
“The Indian dressing room today is one cohesive unit standing together through challenges while revelling in each other’s success,” Shah added.
Shah following this post also announced that the former Indian opening batter, Gautam Gambhir would be India’s next head coach. Gambhir most recently was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders camp as a mentor where the franchise went on to win the 2024 Indian Premier League title.

The Indian T20I side will certainly be a newly built squad with a lot of young talents being included in the side to form the next generation of stars to take Indian cricket forward.
