LSG speedster Mayank Yadav has recovered from his injury, but is expected to continue rehab at the NCA for another three-four weeks.

Lucknow Super Giants Pacer Mayank Yadav has fully recovered from the injury that cut short his IPL 2024 stint earlier this year.

The right-handed bowler has fully recovered but will be in the National Cricket Academy for the next three to four weeks as his rehab continues.

“I have fully recovered but will be in NCA for the next three-four weeks more,” the fast bowler told News18 CricketNext.

While there were speculations on his inclusion for India’s away series against Sri Lanka at the end of this month, where they will be playing three T20Is and as many ODIs, Yadav’s extended stay at the NCA will mean he might not be fit to considered for the selection. The squad is yet to be announced for the series but as per reports, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested.

Mayank had made his IPL debut this season for LSG against the Punjab Kings and stamped his authority after picking a three-wicket haul for just 27 runs for the side. Mayank’s express speed also caught the eye. The right-hander continued his form against RCB in the next fixture and returned with figures of 3/14. Yadav then suffered an injury scare during the third match against the Gujarat Titans and was only able to bowl one over.

He missed the next few games before featuring in the clash against Mumbai Indians on April 30. But he was only able to bowl 3.1 overs in that game.

Later, head coach Justin Langer confirmed that Mayank was likely to be rested for the remainder of the season. “He (Mayank) just had a scan. He has got a small tear in a similar area to his last injury. It is very unfortunate. He had his rehabilitation and went into the (Mumbai Indians) game completely pain-free,” Langer had said in a media interaction.
