Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) took swift action against illegal construction. Bulldozers were used on unauthorized construction in the area of HFL and Assi Nala and plotting was also demolished. During the action, VDA froze three illegal plottings of about 15 bighas.

After the action, VDA took possession of all the properties and also put up a board of the jurisdiction of the development authority on them. They also warned of strict legal action if any attempt is made to reconstruct or plot on these properties. Currently, on the instructions of VDA VC, all the properties have been given under police protection. VDA Vice President said that action was taken in Bhelupur, Nagwan, Phulwaria, Chowk, Sikraul, Shivpur wards.
