The ongoing tension between the EO and the Chairman in Achalganj Nagar Panchayat is not subsiding. Last evening, the Chairperson Lakshmi Verma, who sat on a dharna, made several allegations. The allegation was that a week ago, a written letter was given to the EO demanding the provision of CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the Nagar Panchayat office.

In view of this, the camera operator was called and sent to the EO’s office to take out the footage. Seeing the operator, the EO closed her office and went out. This incident did not go down well with the chairperson Lakshmi Verma and the council members present there and they sat on a dharna at the office gate itself. When the regional inspector was informed, he reached the spot with the police force.

He tried to call the EO and hold talks. But the EO did not agree. He said that he will give the footage of the cameras only after the orders of the higher authorities. When the ADM was talked to, he assured to provide the footage on Wednesday morning. On the other hand, some councilors and municipal employees also protested in favor of the EO and said that his work was right. They said that the allegations leveled against the EO were baseless.

When the EO reached the office again, the chairperson tried to negotiate. But she did not get off the car. Angered by this, the chairperson again started protesting in front of the car. The councilors present also accused the EO of not coming to the office and not picking up the phone. However, in defense, the EO informed the police. He also informed the higher officials. The protest ended after police intervention and talks with the ADM.
