The water level of Ghaghra river is gradually rising above the danger mark due to the continuous release of lakhs of cusecs of water from neighbouring country Nepal and barrages. Today, Ghaghra river is flowing 32 centimetres above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge.

Talking about yesterday’s river water level, yesterday Ghaghra river was flowing 55 cm above the danger mark. But due to no rain late tonight, the water level of the river is gradually decreasing. After releasing 308747 cusecs of water today, the water level of Ghaghra river may increase further by evening.
Today, 115127 cusecs of water has been released from Girja Barrage, 183480 cusecs from Sharda Barrage and 10140 cusecs from Saryu Barrage into Ghaghra river. Due to Ghaghra river being above danger mark, 13646 population of about 15 villages of Karnailganj and Tarabganj tehsil area is affected. Along with this, 10888 animals are also affected by the flood. 55 boats have been deployed for relief and rescue work of the people affected by the flood.

757 ORS packets distributed
Along with this, one hundred and fifty lunch packets have been distributed so far. 757 ORS have been distributed. 1204 chlorine tablets have been distributed. Along with this, 458 patients have also been treated. An SDRF team and a PSC flood team have also been deployed for relief and rescue work. Gonda district administration has also activated 28 flood posts to deal with the upcoming flood.

At the same time, about 15 villages including Byonda Majha, Dutta Nagar, Sakhipur, Bani Majha, Mahajan Purva of Tarabganj tehsil area, Nakhara, Gharukan Purva of Colonelganj tehsil area are affected by floods. People are forced to leave their homes and go to higher places by taking the help of boats. People are also somehow taking their animals to higher places and keeping them safe. People affected by the flood are carrying wheat and rice on their heads to higher places. So that the grains kept in their houses do not face any problem due to the water entering their houses.

Keeping an eye on the control room
Gonda DM Neha Sharma said that wherever there is a flood, relief material is being provided to all the people by the district administration officials. Flood victims will not be allowed to face any kind of problem. All the people are being safely taken to safe places and the entire situation is being constantly monitored by me and the control room.
