Former world number-1 Novak Djokovic has reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon. In the quarter-finals, he was to face Australia and the tournament’s ninth seed Di Minor. A few hours before the match, Minor held a press conference and announced that he would not play in the quarter-finals. He informed that he was withdrawing from the tournament due to a hip injury.
He said he heard a ‘crack’ during his 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Arthur Phils in the fourth round on Monday. When the match ended, De Minaur cautiously walked towards the net but later downplayed the seriousness of the situation while speaking to the media. With this walkover, Djokovic reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for the 13th time and thus equaled Roger Federer’s record in men’s singles.
De Minaur was injured in the Ford Round match.
