NEET case accused Gangadhar Gunde gets bail: CBI had arrested the wrong person because of the same name

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today granted bail to a man named Gangadhar Gunde. The court said that the CBI had wrongly arrested Gangadhar.

The court said that the CBI had arrested the accused on the basis of mistaken identity due to having the same name.

The CBI had registered a case against a person named N. Gangadhar Appa in a case related to Latur in Maharashtra. Gangadhar Gunde was arrested in Bengaluru on June 30.

The next hearing on the irregularities in the NEET case will be on July 18
The next hearing on 38 petitions regarding irregularities in the NEET case will now be held on July 18. The court has given time to the petitioners to respond to the affidavits of the Central Government and NTA.

The Chief Justice’s bench said that the Center and NTA have filed their affidavits in response to the court’s July 8 order. However, the bench has found that some petitioners have not yet received the affidavits of the Center and NTA. The next hearing of the case will be held on July 18.

CJI’s bench held the second hearing today
The NEET case was listed for hearing on July 11 in the court on matters 40 to 45. After hearing case 33, CJI Chandrachud said that tomorrow the first hearing will be on NEET. After this, it was postponed till Monday. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested to hear the case on Wednesday. Currently, the court has postponed the next hearing till July 18.

The first hearing of the NEET case was held on July 8 in front of the CJI’s bench in the Supreme Court. After this, the next hearing date was given on July 11. The court had given time till the evening of July 10 to NTA, Central Government, CBI and the petitioners demanding re-test to file affidavits. CBI, NTA and the Central Government filed their affidavits on July 10.

The Supreme Court had sought answers from NEET stakeholders
Stakeholders filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the NEET dispute late in the evening of July 10. The court had sought a report from the four stakeholders related to the NEET dispute – NTA, CBI, Central Government and the petitioners demanding retest.

CBI is considering Jharkhand as the center of NEET paper leak
According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, CBI has considered Jharkhand as the centre of NEET paper leak. CBI has asked the Jharkhand government to transfer those two cases to CBI which were registered in two different police stations of Ranchi on the day of the exam. The case is related to Awadhesh Kumar, a resident of Arsande, Ranchi.

Awadhesh had signed two blank cheques in the name of Sikandar, an accused in the paper leak case, for his son Abhishek. Currently, Awadhesh Kumar is in custody. Read full news

Supreme Court is hearing 30 petitions
38 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the irregularities in NEET-UG. Out of these, 34 petitions have been filed by students, teachers and coaching institutes, while 4 petitions have been filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

A petition was filed to investigate the paper leak 8 days after the exam
NEET candidate Shivangi Mishra filed a petition in the Supreme Court on May 13 to investigate the paper leak. After this, NTA announced the result of the exam on June 4, 10 days before the scheduled date.

So far 42 arrests have been made from 7 states
There have been continuous protests against NTA across the country since June 4. The central government handed over the investigation of the NEET case to the CBI on June 22. So far, the investigation of the paper leak case has reached 6 states. The CBI has arrested 2 people from Bihar and 5 from Jharkhand. 4 accused from Gujarat are also being questioned on remand. So far 42 arrests have been made from 7 states.
