The flood water of Sharda river of Kheri is still flooding dozens of villages. The anger of the farmers affected by the flood burst out on Saturday. The angry farmers reached Kamal Chowk in large numbers and started a sit-in. The farmers sat on the cut railway line along Palia Bhira Road.

The farmers alleged that when only a few railway lines were cut off due to flood water, why did the railway not start the work of laying boulders. Apart from this, the farmers demanded compensation for the crops destroyed by the flood. The farmers termed mining as the main reason for the flood. The farmers accused the boatmen of extorting money illegally.
Dozens of villages are flooded with water
Flood water of Sharda and Suheli river is still filled in dozens of villages. Movement of small vehicles has been started on Palia Nighasan road. But Palia Bhira road is closed for six days due to flood water and broken culvert. On Saturday, a large number of farmers reached Kamal Chowk of Palia and sat on dharna.

The angry farmers started demanding to start construction work on the railway line and Palia Bhira road which was cut off due to flood. The farmers alleged that their villages are still flooded but they have not received any help from the administration. The farmers demanded compensation for the crops destroyed by the flood.

Apart from this, the farmers accused the boatmen of extorting money from the common people in the name of helping them cross the embankment. The farmers termed mining as the main reason for the flood and demanded that mining be stopped. On receiving the information, Tehsildar Aarti Yadav reached the protest site and assured the farmers of resolving their problems soon. After this, the farmers reached SDM Kartikeya Singh and handed over a memorandum related to the problems to him.
