A case of robbery has come to light at the house of an LIC assistant manager in Kanpur. The miscreant entered the house on Friday night posing as a CISF jawan on the pretext of buying a policy. He made the victim inhale an intoxicating substance and fled with Rs 13 lakh cash and jewellery.

On regaining consciousness on Saturday morning, the assistant manager informed the neighbours and the Barra police station. The police arrived to investigate the spot. After that, a theft report was registered. The miscreant has been captured in the CCTV footage taking away two bags. The police is now searching for him.

He came home under the pretence of taking a policy in the name of his son

Satyendra Singh Bhadoria who lives in Barra 7 is an Assistant Manager in LIC Ratanlal Nagar. Satyendra told that his wife Shalini Singh has gone to her maternal house about 20 days back due to ill health of her father-in-law. Son Abhishek works in Bangalore. Currently he was alone at home. Satyendra told that on Friday a call was received from an unknown number, the young man who was talking introduced himself as a CISF jawan and told his name as Ravindra Singh Chauhan, a resident of Etawah. He said that he was currently posted in Chhattisgarh and asked him to take the policy for his son. Satyendra told that trusting him, he called him home, upon which he came home at around seven o’clock on Friday evening.

After having dinner at around 10 pm, he suddenly felt sleepy and went to sleep. When he woke up at around 8 am, he saw that three cupboards and sofas in the house were open and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and cash worth Rs 3 lakh were missing. Satyendra informed his nephew Vikram who lives in front of the house and Barra police about the incident. DCP South Ravindra Kumar said that Barra police has registered an FIR in the case after investigation. Teams have been formed to catch the culprits.

DCP South said that the CCTV cameras installed in Vikram’s house were checked, in which the young man was seen going with his mouth covered with a towel at around 2.30 in the night. In the CCTV cameras, the young man was seen carrying a bag on his back and one in his hand. Barra Inspector TB Singh said that a report has been registered on the basis of the complaint. On the basis of CCTV cameras, the accused is seen going towards Naubasta, the matter is being investigated.
