A meeting of the district level plantation committee was held in Mau under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Praveen Mishra. During the meeting, the Divisional Director of Social Forestry Division said that some amendments have been made in the target set for plantation. Earlier this target was 30 lakh 50 thousand.

The divisional director has set a target of planting more than 31 lakh saplings. Thus, according to the new revised target, the plantation of 99 thousand 584 saplings has been increased. The District Magistrate has asked all the departments related to tree plantation to ensure the lifting of saplings by tomorrow as per the new revised target set for them.

Tree plantation will be done on 20th July.

Appeal to plant a tree in mother’s name

Apart from this, he has instructed all the department heads as well as all the employees of the concerned department to plant a tree in the name of the mother and ensure its protection. The District Magistrate has instructed all the departments to provide information regarding the lifting of the saplings and their protection measures to the Chief Development Officer within two days.

He also asked to plant neem, acacia or mahua seeds during plantation. So that if the plant dries up after plantation, then this seed can germinate as a new plant. During the meeting itself, the District Magistrate also gave instructions to remove the debris generated after the encroachment was removed on the banks of river Tamsa, to fence the encroachment free land as well as to plant trees immediately.

He asked the Agriculture Department officer to encourage organic farming on the river banks. Apart from this, he instructed to prepare an action plan and work on it to start Aarti on the river banks.

The District Magistrate directed all the Executive Officers to go door to door and create awareness among the people about wet and dry garbage to keep the rivers free from garbage.
