A meeting was held with the water police and boatmen at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi regarding the rising water level of the Ganga. It was decided in the meeting that boats will now have to be driven very cautiously in the Ganga. Apart from this, half the passengers of the boat’s capacity will be seated on the boat and life jackets will be worn.

Small boat operations stopped

Mithlesh Yadav, Varanasi Water Police Administration, said that it has been decided in a meeting with the boatmen that till further orders, operation of small boats in the Ganga will be completely banned. An advisory has also been issued regarding this. Water police personnel are also keeping a watch.

No outside boat will be allowed during the Ganga Aarti at Dashaswamedh

Jal police said that in view of the water level and fast flow of Ganga, boatmen have been instructed not to set up their boats during Ganga Aarti. Boats coming from other ghats except Dashaswamedh will be turned back and those boats will not be allowed to stand during Ganga Aarti.

Riding on a boat if the seating capacity is less than

Water police administration Mithlesh Yadav said that the boatmen are being monitored. Everyone has been instructed that they will take tourists around the ghats by boat only with 50% passengers on their boat. No boat has been allowed to operate after the Aarti is over. Due to the rising water level of the Ganges in Varanasi, two ghats have lost connectivity. The water level of the Ganges was 62.30 meters till 8 am today.
