According to the information, Rajendra (62), who lived near the Durga temple behind Sharma City in Takrohi, lived with his wife Saroj (60) and their children. Rajendra retired from Sugarcane Institute Barabanki in December 2022. On Tuesday evening around 8:30 pm, he reached home drunk with his nephew Anil. As soon as he entered the house, he started abusing.

Dispute escalated over hand over cooler

Just then his wife Saroj and his brother Jagat Pal’s wife Tara came. Both of them started dragging him inside the room. In this tug of war Rajendra’s hand touched his sister Pushpa’s cooler. Due to which the cooler shook violently. His sister came out in anger and started abusing. Rajendra also got angry at this and the dispute increased. Just then nephew Abhishek, who was sitting inside the room, fired from the pistol kept inside. Which directly hit Saroj.

After this, the next bullet hit Rajendra. Both of them fell on the ground. In the third shot, his son Shravan and then his brother Rajveer got shot. Hearing the sound of the bullet, people gathered around. After this, the police was informed. The police reached the spot and took both of them to the hospital. Where the doctors declared Rajendra and Saroj dead. Rajveer and son Shravan were shot in the hand. They are being treated at Lohia Hospital.

Two other family members injured

The police kept the bodies in the mortuary for postmortem. Tara, wife of Rajendra’s younger brother, said that he often took his nephew Anil with him to drink alcohol. Saroj and she forbade him many times but he did not listen. Like every day, today also he was arguing after returning from drinking. Then he started arguing with his sister too. We tried to convince him a lot but we don’t know when the nephew fired the shot.

Rajendra has five brothers and one sister. His sister left her in-laws’ house and lives with her brother Rajveer in her maternal home. Rajveer works as a guard in Lohia Hospital. He bears the expenses of his sister and nephew. He was also present at the time of the incident and he too was shot in the hand. The house is their ancestral one. All the brothers live in separate rooms there.

One of Rajendra’s sons is in jail

Rajendra has two sons and three daughters. The daughters are married. While the son is not married. The elder son Shravan drives an auto, while the younger son Tej Kumar Singh is lodged in Barabanki jail for drug smuggling. On Tuesday, Shravan went to jail to meet him. After returning from there, when he reached home, he saw that there was a ruckus going on there. He was explaining to both the parties when Abhishek fired a bullet. In which he too got injured.

DCP North Abhijeet R Shankar said that the accused is 17 years old. He shot his maternal uncle and maternal aunt for property and fled. Police is searching for him. He will be arrested soon.
