After the Lok Sabha elections in Varanasi, the process of filling the vacant posts of public representatives in the Panchayats is going on. The notification for the election of public representatives in the Panchayats in Varanasi has been issued. District Election Officer S. Rajlingam issued the election program to the Magistrate.

In Varanasi, 20 Panchayat members including two Pradhans and four BDCs will be elected. The preparations for the by-election have begun once again. For this, the candidates will have to file nomination papers by 22nd July. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on 23rd July. The election symbol will be allotted after the withdrawal of nominations on 24th July. Voting will be held on 6th August from 6 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will be done at the blocks on 8th August.

District Election Officer S. Rajlingam said that the post of Pradhan is vacant in Kauwapur Gram Panchayat of Lapur and Kachiya Gram Panchayat of Pindra. Apart from this, Panchayat members will also be elected afresh in these villages.

By-election will be held on Cholapur area Panchayat member 39 Chaubepur Khurd seat. Notification has also been issued for the election of 101 Kharavan (Scheduled Caste) posts of Baragaon, 72 Rasipatti and Madhavpur (women) posts of Harhua.

The election program has been fixed for the election of the vacant posts of Gram Pradhan, BDC and members. The entire election process, starting from nomination to all these, will take place at the development block office and the work of symbol allocation and counting of votes will also be coordinated by the BDO and SDM.

The date for submitting nomination papers for the vacant seats has been fixed as 22nd July. After this, scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on 23rd July. Election symbol will be allotted after withdrawal of nominations on 24th July. If there is no unopposed election, voting will be held in the village on 6th August at their designated booth and counting of votes will be done on 8th August at the development block headquarters.

According to the DM, all work related to nomination will be done from 10 am to 3 pm. Voting will be held on August 6 from 7 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will continue from 8 am on August 8 till the results are declared.
