Café Mysore is popular in the Ambani household. In an earlier interview with India Today, Mukesh Ambani said: “In 1975-79, four years of chemical engineering, I used to eat from there. We still order idlis and dosas from Mysore Café and go there once a week.”

Established in 1936, Cafe Mysore is one of the oldest restaurants in Matunga. Founded by A Rama Nayak, who was born in the village of Akkar, Mangalore, Karnataka, it remains a popular legacy joint for South Indian food in Mumbai. Rama Nayak had dropped out of school and started making and selling idlis and dosas. A few years later, he set up his first restaurant selling south Indian food in Matunga.

Anant, the younger son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani, on July 12 got married to pharmaceutical heiress and childhood sweetheart Radhika Merchant at a star-studded event attended by celebrities from across the globe.

Saturday (July 13) was the Shubh Aashirwad ceremony for the couple. Political bigwigs namely Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Andhra Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Union Minister Chirag Paswan, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, and Congress leader Sachin Pilot attended the event. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, and deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, too, attended the ceremony.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe, Nigerian rapper Rema, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and global business tycoons ranging from oil giant Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser to Samsung Electronics chairman Jay Lee were in attendance at the event that has been dubbed as the ‘wedding of the year’.

Sunday was the reception, with a gathering on Monday for Reliance, Jio employees and the media.
