Actor Siddhant Karnik, who has worked in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’, recently made a shocking revelation about casting couch during an interview. The actor described the casting couch experience as strange in the early days of his career. He said that a coordinator had threatened him saying that if he did not compromise, he would not get work.
Siddhant Karnik played the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s brother-in-law Varun Pratap Malhotra in ‘Animal’. He made a lot of headlines for his role in the film. Recently, in an interview to Hindustan Times, Siddhant talked about his experience of casting couch in the early days of his career and how he felt.
Siddhant Karnik said- In 2005, I had just started working in the industry at the age of 22. During that time I met a coordinator. He asked me for my portfolio and then called me to his house at 10:30 pm. I went to his house, there were pictures of his family all around his house and the atmosphere there seemed safe. But I felt that something was wrong.
I sat there. After a little conversation, the coordinator was trying to come closer to me. I told him that I am not interested in doing this kind of work. Hearing this, he got angry and said that if you do not compromise, you will not get work. He threatened me and said that I will ensure that you do not get work anywhere.
Siddhant said, ‘At that time I did not know anyone in the film industry. I had neither a godfather nor a mentor. But at that time I stood firm. Without being afraid of anyone, I fulfilled my dreams with my hard work.’ Apart from ‘Animal’, Siddhant Karnik has worked in films like ‘Adipurush’, ‘Thappad’ and ‘Lafange Parindey’.
