1400 years ago on 10th Muharram, Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Hussain and his 72 companions were martyred in the field of Karbala by the Yazidi army. This battle took place in Karbala, Iraq. Imam Hussain and the small children of his family were also martyred hungry and thirsty. That is why in Muharram, along with Sabil, langar is also arranged, water is given, food is fed to the hungry. Imam Hussain saved humanity in the battle of Karbala. This is the reason why Muharram is also considered the month of humanity.

1400 years ago, there was a cruel king named Yazid in Iraq. He did not believe in Allah. He asked Hazrat Imam Hussain to come in his support. But Imam Hussain did not support the tyrant. He declared war against Yazid. In this war, Imam Hussain and his 72 companions including his family were martyred. To feel the same grief, a procession of Tazia and Alam is taken out every year on 10th Muharram.

Hundreds of devotees were walking in this procession carrying shields in their hands. Those carrying shields believe that if we were there at that time, we would have protected Imam Hussain and would not have let him die hungry and thirsty. The procession of Tazia and Alam that started on the night of 9th Muharram passed through all the Imambaras till the night of 10th Muharram and reached Karbala where a large number of langar was arranged. When all the Tazias reached here, they were buried.
