People from other villages come in large numbers daily to have a look at the white calf in Karauli.
Have you seen a black buffalo giving birth to a white calf? In Karauli, Rajasthan, a buffalo gave birth to a unique calf which looks whiter than milk. The calf has no single mark or mole on its body.
The birth of this unique calf became a topic of discussion among the people of that area as soon as it came into the world. A huge crowd gathered in Machani village in Karauli, to see the calf. Everyone was surprised to see the fair complexion of the calf and started calling it the “eighth wonder”. Even, the owner was shocked as soon as he saw this unique baby calf coming out of its mother’s womb.
The buffalo owner, Neeraj Rajput claimed that this baby calf was born on July 17 at 4 am. He said that this unique white calf has been completely healthy since birth. According to the owner, it is a strange case as the baby is completely white. Not only this, he also mentioned that people from other villages come in large numbers daily to have a look at the calf.
The owner added that this is a desi-breed buffalo. It is the first time that the buffalo has given birth to a baby calf. It was a cross-breeding with another buffalo, but having a white-coloured female calf is something that the owner has never seen before. According to the veterinary doctor, Dr Brahma Prakash Pandey, albinism is considered a genetic condition in buffalo breed animals, in which there is partial or complete absence of pigments that determine its body colour, which is usually reflected in the eyes, hair and skin and sometimes appears on the entire body as well.
This is regarded as an autosomal genetic disorder in which both parents have the genes for the condition, and the calf also develops the symptoms of albinism. Such calves are considered normal, but being completely colourless is a rare thing, and such cases are found one in thousands.
