1. Vinay Mohan Kwatra appointed as the new Ambassador of India to the US
On July 19, IFS officer Vinay Mohan Kwatra was appointed as India’s new ambassador to the US. He will take charge soon.
Earlier, Vinay Kwatra was the Foreign Secretary of India. During this time, he worked to strongly present India’s side on many international issues. He is an Indian Foreign Service Officer of the 1988 batch.
Vinay Kwatra was Joint Secretary in the PMO between 2015 and 2017.
2. 9th Women’s Cricket Asia Cup starts today
The 9th edition of the Women’s Cricket Asia Cup is starting today i.e. 19th July. The first match will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka.
The Women’s Cricket Asia Cup is organised by the Asian Cricket Council, the governing body of cricket in Asia. This year eight teams are participating – India, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Thailand.
The 9th Women’s Cricket Asia Cup will be held in Sri Lanka from 19 to 28 July 2024.

1. Recruitment for 1040 posts in SBI; Application starts today
The application process for recruitment of more than 1000 posts in State Bank of India has started from today. Under this recruitment, the posts of Senior Vice President and Assistant Vice President will be recruited on contract basis. Whereas the posts of Manager and Deputy Manager will be recruited on regular basis.
Female and male candidates can apply for this recruitment. Candidates have to apply by visiting the official website https://bank.sbi.
Age Range :
- Maximum 50 years.
- Age will be counted on the basis of June 30, 2024.
- Reserved categories will be given relaxation in maximum age limit as per government rules.
Educational Qualification :
- BE or BTech degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Electronic & Instrumentation.
- Must have experience in relevant field.
2. Notification issued for recruitment of 143 posts in ITBP
Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has issued a notification for recruitment to Constable/ Tradesman posts. The application process for recruitment to these posts will start from July 28.
After the application starts, candidates will be able to apply by visiting the ITBP website recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. Both men and women can apply for this recruitment.
Educational Qualification :
- 10th passed.
- Must have ITI or experience in relevant trade.
Age Range :
18 – 23 years

1. List of test centres for NEET PG 2024 released
National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences i.e. NBEMS has released the list of test cities for NEET PG Exam 2024. The exam will be conducted in 185 cities across the country.
Students can choose new test centers between July 19 and 22. After this, candidates will be informed about the confirmed test centers through email on July 29. Students can check the complete list of test cities on natboard.edu.in.
2. CBSE affiliation of DPS Dwarka may be cancelled
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is considering recommending cancellation of CBSE affiliation of DPS Dwarka. Apart from this, filing a police complaint against the school is also being considered.
Actually, many parents have accused DPS Dwarka of misbehaving with the students. Some time ago, DPS Dwarka had published the names of 21 students on the school’s official website whose fees were not deposited. However, those names were later removed.
Apart from this, when the classes resumed after the summer vacation on July 1, about 20 students were stopped from entering the class and their names were also removed from the school register.
Parents say that the school fees were increased against the rules. To protest against this, they did not pay the fees. Whereas the school says that this decision was taken keeping in mind all the rules.
3. UPSC filed FIR against Pooja Khedkar
UPSC has filed an FIR against 2023 batch trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar. UPSC has alleged that Pooja appeared for the civil services exam more times than the limit set by UPSC by changing her identity.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has registered a case against Pooja under forgery, fraud, IT Act and Disability Act.
Apart from this, UPSC has also issued a notice to Pooja and sought a reply regarding cancellation of selection.
UPSC said that a thorough investigation was conducted against Pooja. It was found that she had changed her name, parents’ name, signature, photo, email ID, mobile number and address to take the UPSC exam.
4. Home Ministry issued advisory for students stranded in Bangladesh
Violent protests broke out in Bangladesh on Thursday over job reservations, in which 39 people have lost their lives so far.
The 56% quota system was in place in the country since independence in 1971. It had 30% reservation in jobs for children of freedom fighters, 10% for backward districts, 10% for women, 5% for minorities and 1% for the disabled.
In the year 2018, the government had abolished the quota system, which has now been ordered to be implemented again by the Supreme Court.
Indian citizens in Bangladesh have been advised to avoid travelling anywhere and minimise their movement outside their homes.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government informed on Thursday that more than 200 Indian citizens have returned safely to India, including 198 students. The Home Ministry has also activated the helpline number 1800 345 3644 for Indian students stranded in Bangladesh.
