A case of fraud in the name of posing as a relative and updating the scanner on the phone has come to light in Azamgarh district. In these two separate cases, the victims had lodged a complaint in the cyber police station, after which the police started investigating the case.

Fraud committed by pretending to be a relative
In this regard, Cyber’s nodal officer Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic Vivek Tripathi said that a person living in Kotwali area filed a complaint with the cyber cell alleging that a person cheated the victim of ₹ 25000 on the false pretext of treatment. When the victim informed his relative about this matter, he came to know about the fraud committed with him, after which he lodged a complaint in the matter. The police registered a case in the matter and also returned the victim’s ₹ 25000. However, the nodal officer made the general public aware and said that do not send money to anyone until you check it thoroughly.
Fraud by posing as PhonePe customer care officer
Nodal officer Vivek Tripathi said that a person living in Atrauliya police station area received a call in the name of updating the barcode on the phone and was cheated in return. After getting information about the case, the cyber team returned the victim’s money. The nodal officer says that if any person pretending to be a relative asks for money, then first call the relative’s phone and talk to him. Many times cyber criminals are committing fraud with people with the help of AI. In such a situation, such incidents can be avoided only by being cautious.
