While giving information on the matter, Block President Alok Kumar Srivastava said that about 1 lakh 48 thousand Shiksha Mitras have been teaching in the council schools of the state with devotion for the last 23 years. After the decision of the Supreme Court on 25 July 2017, the Shiksha Mitra is facing the crisis of providing for their families. Due to these difficult circumstances, about 8 thousand Shiksha Mitras have also died suddenly in the state. Shiksha Mitra have been struggling for the last 7 years to fulfill their basic needs.

Shiksha Mitras put forward these demands

At the same time, Shiksha Mitras say that through the ordinance, Shiksha Mitra should be re-appointed as Assistant Teacher, equal pay and equal facilities for equal work till the completion of the process, opportunity for female Shiksha Mitra to get transfer to schools in their in-laws’ district and the facility of CL, opportunity for Shiksha Mitras within the district to return to their original school and the nearest school, appropriate job and financial assistance to the family of the deceased Shiksha Mitra, cashless medical facility and Ayushman card facility, 14 leaves instead of 11 casual leaves and facility of semi-casual leave, retirement age should be made 62 years.
