Heavy vehicles have been prohibited from entering Ghaziabad starting Monday, July 23, with further restrictions planned for tempos, autos, and four-wheelers from next week onwards. Ghaziabad Traffic Police has introduced a diversion plan aimed at easing congestion on key routes.
Effective midnight on July 29, commuters heading towards Delhi are advised to consider the following alternative routes:
NH-58 (formerly NH-24): Travellers can use the Meerut lane from Mohannagar, Meerut Tiraha, Rajnagar Extension, and Hapur Chugi.
Eastern Peripheral Expressway: Vehicles traveling from Palwal/Kundli to Ghaziabad city, Muradnagar, or Modinagar should exit at Dasna cut and proceed via NH-09.

Moreover, restrictions will be imposed on several routes including Chaudhary Mod, New Bus Adda, Gaushala Gate, Hapur Tiraha, Kaila Bhatta, and the Patel Nagar flyover. Additional restrictions apply from Sanjay Geeta Chowk, Ghukna Mod, DPS Cut, Sihani Chungi, and Sanjaynagar flyover towards National Highway-34.
Furthermore, vehicles traveling towards Delhi or Meerut via the Delhi Meerut Expressway are rerouted through NH-09 via Hapur, as entry onto the Delhi Meerut Expressway will be closed.
Commuters using light vehicles from Railway Station Road, Kirana Mandi, Ramte Ram Road, Ghantaghar, Bajaria Road, and Delhi Gate are advised to avoid Dudheshwarnath Temple. Likewise, vehicles headed towards Hindon River, Kanawani, and Indirapuram from Meerut Tiraha should divert via Old Bus Adda and Chaudhary Mor towards Vijay Nagar Railway Bridge using NH-09.
Additionally, autos will be restricted between Seemapuri Border and Lal Kuan, and all types of autos will face bans on NH-34 (Kawad Marg) and between Mohan Nagar and Vasundhara Flyover.
With many routes closed until August 5th, private vehicles remain the most viable option for commuters heading towards Delhi. Those in Ghaziabad can access Naya Bus Adda Metro, while Trans Hindon residents can utilize Vaishali Metro. Residents around Lalkuan are encouraged to travel directly to Delhi via NH 9.
