DEFENSE
1. INS Triput launched: On July 24, the Indian Navy announced the launch of a new warship INS Triput in Goa. It is the 9th stealth guided missile frigate of the Talwar class frigate. Its construction work started on 29 January 2021.
INS Triput will be inducted into the Navy in October 2026, till then its trials will be conducted.
- The displacement of this ship at sea is 3850 tonnes.
- Its length is 409.5 feet, beam is 49.10 feet and draught is 13.9 feet.
- This warship can move at a maximum speed of 59 kilometres per hour in the sea.
- INS Triput can carry 18 officers and 180 sailors and has a sea endurance of 30 days.
- It has 24 Stealth-1 medium range missiles deployed.
- 8 Igla-1E, 8 Vertical Launch Anti-Ship Missile Club, 8 Vertical Launch Anti-Ship and Land Attack BrahMos Missiles are also present.
- It is equipped with a 100 mm A-190E naval gun.

2. Anti-paper leak bill passed in Bihar Assembly: On 24 July, the Anti Paper Leak Bill was passed in the Bihar Assembly. According to this bill, paper leak will now be considered a serious crime. After the law is passed by the Assembly, non-bailable sections will be imposed on the accused in the paper leak case.
- After the signature of the Governor, this bill will come into force in the state.
- The new law provides for a punishment of 3 to 10 years and a fine of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
- These rules will be applicable to all the examinations conducted by the state government.
- Apart from this, any institution involved in the paper leak will be blacklisted for 4 years.
- According to the new rule, now the paper leak case will also be investigated by an officer of DSP rank.
- There is also a provision in the new law that the government can get the case investigated by any investigating agency.

3. India ranked 82nd in the World Passport Ranking: On July 24, Henley & Partners released the ranking of the world’s most powerful passports. India has got 82nd place in this list.
The passport ranking is released twice a year in January and July.
- According to this list, Singapore’s passport is the most powerful passport in the world.
- India’s ranking has increased by 3 places compared to the index released in January this year.
- Indian passport allows visa free entry to 58 countries.
- Singapore passport has got the first place in this list, which has visa free entry to 195 countries.
- Japan is followed in second place by France, Italy, Germany and Spain whose passports allow visa-free travel to 192 countries.
- Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea and Sweden ranked third with free visa entry to 191 countries.
- This ranking has been released on the basis of data from the International Air Transport Association.
- Pakistan’s passport ranking is 100, its citizens can travel visa free to 33 countries.
- Israel, which has been at war with Hamas for 10 months, has a passport ranking of 18.
- Afghanistan’s passport is the weakest passport in the world with a rank of 103.

4. Billion Impressions inaugurated in Ranchi: On July 24, Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated Billion Impressions built in Bhagwan Birsa Munda Smriti Park in Ranchi. Billion Impressions has been built by Tata Steel.

- Billion Impressions is a symbol of two thumbs up, symbolising unity.
- The purpose of this statue is to promote art and culture.
- Other statues like Billion Impressions were installed in various parts of the country.
- The statue with two thumb fingerprints is 11.5 metres (37.7 ft) tall.
- Billion Impressions was the winner of the international design competition of Notions of India and Tata Steel.

5. Ajinkya Naik wins MCA president election: Ajinkya Naik became the new president of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on 23 July. He won the election by defeating Sanjay Naik by 107 votes.
Ajinkya Naik became the youngest President of MCA.
- 37-year-old Ajinkya Naik got 221 votes.
- Sanjay Naik could get only 114 votes.
- Both Ajinkya and Sanjay were sitting office bearers of MCA.
- The MCA president post fell vacant following the death of Amol Kale in June 2024.
- Ajinkya served as a member of the MCA Apex Council in 2019.
- In 2022, he was elected as the Secretary of MCA.

History of 24 July: On this day in 1991, Manmohan Singh presented his first budget as Finance Minister. This budget is considered a game changer in the history of the country. Manmohan Singh brought the model of LPG i.e. liberalization, privatization and globalization for the economy. The economy was opened to the world by changing the import-export policy. Custom duty was reduced from 220% to 150%. The condition of the economy was bad at that time.
