Jaismine Lamboria is one of the six boxers who will represent India at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. The Haryana-born athlete learned tricks of the trade from her uncles Sandip and Parwinder, who were national champions and also competed in international events.

Jaismine’s great grandfather Hawa Singh was a heavyweight boxer and won two gold medals at the Asian Games while her grandfather was a wrestler

Jaismine, who was fond of outdoor sports from an early age, decided to follow her family tradition. She went to Mashuban where her younger uncle Sandeep was posted with Haryana Police.

Considering the lack of quality female boxers in that area, Jaismine later started to train with boys at his uncle Parvinder’s Lamboria Boxing Academy. Her first victory at the national level came in 2019 when she defeated Asian Championship bronze medallist Manisha Moun in the women’s 57kg category at 2019 All India University Games.

That year, she also won a gold medal at the Khelo India Youth Games.

Jaismine announced her arrival on the global stage with a triumph at the Youth Eskar All-Female Box Cup. She secured her first international medal by winning silver in Boxam International in Spain.

Jaismine won a bronze medal in the 60kg lightweight category in her Commonwealth Games debut in 2022.
