The health department in Kaushambi has started working on an effective strategy to deal with the increasing cases of snake bites. On Thursday, the CMO claimed to make anti-venom medicines available at PHCs and CHCs. He said that ASHA workers treat patients in case of snake bites at the village level.

4 lakhs paid to 6 deceased dependents

With the onset of monsoon rains, the problem of snake bite starts coming to the fore in the district in official numbers. In such a situation, blind faith and lack of information among the people in the district often becomes the cause of death of patients. According to the data of the Natural Disaster Department, 9 deaths have occurred in the district due to snake bite in the year 2023-24. In which 4 lakh rupees have been paid to 6 deceased dependents from the Natural Disaster Fund. The family of 3 other deceased has received official recommendation on the file for financial assistance. Its payment will also be made soon.

According to the data of the health department, a total of 16 snake bite patients were brought to the district hospital from January 2024 till now. In which all the patients are healthy after safe treatment and are living with their families. In the case of one and a half dozen snake bites, 15 patients recovered after getting treatment at the Joint District Hospital, while 1 patient recovered and went home after treatment at Muratganj PHC.

Asha Bahus were instructed

CMO Dr Sanjay Kumar said, in case of snake bite, arrangements have been made to provide treatment to patients at PHC-CHC level under the Prabhat Kadam. Asha Bahus have been instructed that whenever a snake bite case is reported, they should immediately provide information about the patient to the PHC-CHC in-charge. So that the patient can be taken to the hospital by ambulance on time and treated. 746 bottles of anti-venom medicine are available at the headquarters level hospital. Apart from this, medicine is available at CHC-PHC.
