A shocking case has come to light from Maharajganj in which Rakesh Gupta (42), a resident of Belwa Khurd, has alleged that his younger brother has declared him dead on papers and taken over his property. This controversial case has now created a ruckus in political and administrative circles.

Rakesh Gupta, who had been working in Ludhiana for the past ten years, returned to his village to learn of his parents’ death. Along with this, he also learnt that his younger brother had declared him dead in the family register and had taken over the property. Rakesh said that when he tried to go home, his younger brother pushed him out.
Running around in administrative offices to prove that they are alive
Currently, Rakesh is living with his wife and three children in a hut near Manas Vihar Colony at Sangam Chauraha in Shahpur area. He is earning his livelihood by doing hard labour. Whenever he gets time, he keeps running to administrative offices to prove that he is alive, but every time he is disappointed.
Actually, Rakesh went to Ludhiana in 1997 at the age of 15. From there, he kept sending money home every month. When he returned home after three years, his marriage took place, but later he went back to Ludhiana. When he returned to the village after ten years, his parents had died and his younger brother refused to recognize him.
Appeal for justice made from Chief Minister’s court to local administration
Rakesh has pleaded for justice from the local administration to the Chief Minister’s Janata Darbar. On June 18, he presented his plea in the Chief Minister’s Janata Darshan, after which the video and lekhpal also went to the village and investigated, but till now no concrete result has come out.
According to Rakesh, his maternal uncle, who is a home guard, along with his younger brother had sent him to jail two years ago on charges of fraud. He was released from jail after 6 months, but the solution to his problems is still pending in government offices.
Rakesh Gupta’s suffering exposed the flaws of law and order
This entire case has raised questions at the local and administrative level as to how a person can be declared dead on paper and his property can be taken over and why the process of justice against him is so slow. This suffering of Rakesh Gupta has proved to what extent a common man can be troubled due to the shortcomings of law and order.
