Amitabh Kant’s recommendation was discussed in the board meeting held in Lucknow.
In Noida, NGT had ordered to stop construction within 10 km of Okhla Bird Sanctuary. After which the work of builder projects remained affected for about two years. During this time, many builders had demanded zero period from the authority. Under which the benefit of 77 days was given.

Based on the recommendation of Amitabh Kant Committee, 57 builders in Noida agreed. All these builders were given the benefit of two years zero period of Covid. Out of these, only 27 builders deposited 25 percent of the total dues i.e. Rs 270 crore as per the recommendation. This resulted in registration of 1035 buyers.
These builders were also affected by the NGT order. In such a situation, on a case to case basis, they can be given the benefit of zero period from 14 August 2013 to 19 August 2015. Preparations for this have already begun.

57 builders had dues of Rs 8 thousand crores
Officials said that about 8273.78 thousand crore rupees were due on 57 builders. After the recommendation of Amitabh Kant Committee, these builders were given the benefit of zero period from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2022. That is, the total dues were reduced by Rs 1866 crore.
In January, 57 builders were called in different groups and were informed about their dues. After reaching an agreement under the government order, the builders had to deposit 25 percent of the total dues within 60 days. In this, only 27 builders deposited the money as per 25 percent. Now only these builders will be given benefits on a case to case basis.

On the demand of many builders affected by the NGT order, the authority has already given the benefit of zero period of around 77 days for a short period. Officials said that this period will be reduced by two years. Only after this the dues will be calculated again. The builder will have to deposit the money as per the new calculation.

Action taken against builders who did not deposit money
Apart from the 27, action will be taken against those builders who agreed to Amitabh Kant’s recommendation but did not deposit the money and did not attend any meeting. For this, the authority has selected a consultancy company. This company is taking details of the vacant properties of the builders. As soon as the report is submitted, this property will be sealed. Or by auctioning it, the dues will be collected and the registry of buyers will be opened.
