Crores of rupees were wasted in the drainage system but still there is waterlogging in Linepar | Crores of rupees were wasted in the drainage system but still there is waterlogging in Linepar: Public said – Mayor just comes to ask for votes; What kind of smart city – our houses and shops are filled with water – Moradabad News
Despite spending hundreds of crores of rupees in the name of smart city, most parts of the city are still yearning for basic necessities. The population of about 4 lakh in Linepar, which is considered a solid vote bank of BJP, has to search for roads amid water during rains. The roads have turned into ponds.

The people here, who are furious at their plight, have targeted the politicians. The public says, be it the mayor or the MLA, they only come to ask for votes. After that they do not look back. It is not that drains were not built in this area, but the planning was so bad that all the money went to waste. The entire drainage system has collapsed and the entire Linepar area is struggling with waterlogging. The situation is such that even a little rain robs people of their sleep and peace. They again start fearing water entering their shops and houses.
K C Sagar, who runs a cement shop near Liapar Ramlila Maidan, says that ever since the rains have started, the water in front of our shop never dries up. Now it collects so much water that it even enters the shop. It rained here last night but the road is still waterlogged. People face so much difficulty in passing through. But no one notices. Everyone just passes by. Neither is there anyone to say anything nor anyone to do anything. Even the councillors do not even come to take a look here. All the goods kept in the shop have been spoilt. There are potholes everywhere on the road, so it is difficult to even carry the goods.
Rajesh Sharma, who runs Siyaram Cloth House, says that due to waterlogging on the roads, the roads turn into swimming pools. The day before yesterday, the shop was closed for the whole day due to waterlogging. There was so much water that water was coming inside when vehicles moved on the roads. The entire Linepar is in a bad condition. Most of the bikes stop in the water. And due to waterlogging on the road, potholes have formed on the roads. Ever since these drains have been constructed, more problems are being seen. More than three feet of water fills the road. How far can the cleaning workers clean? Neither any officer from the Municipal Corporation comes here to take a look and the leaders come only when asking for votes. After that, no one cares if we drown or die.
Ravi Chauhan, who runs Chauhan Auto Parts shop, says that waterlogging has become an annual affair in the Linepar area. Whenever it rains, you can understand that waterlogging is inevitable. We cannot tell how much of a problem it is. Customers are unable to come due to waterlogging. The biggest problem is for school children. Now you assume that it rained the day before yesterday but the water is still stagnant.
Dr Raja, who runs a dental clinic, said that it has been almost seven years since we have been living here. Since then we have been seeing that if even a little rain falls, it accumulates on the roads. If it rains for half an hour or an hour, a pond is formed here, and then no patient comes to the clinic. We have to face a lot of trouble during the three to four months of rain.
Himanshu Sharma, owner of Sharda Disposal Store, says that due to water, we have to face a lot of losses in business here. Recently, I did not open my clinic for five days. From here to Suryanagar, water remains knee-deep for three days due to one hour of rain.
