1. BJP leader Prabhat Jha passes away
On 26 July, senior BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh president Prabhat Jha passed away. 67-year-old Jha was ill for a long time. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time in 2008 and for the second time in 2014. In 2018, Prabhat Jha was made the national vice-president of the BJP.
2. Rs 284.19 crore approved for JNPA
On July 26, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal approved Rs 284.19 crore for the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) in Mumbai to set up an integrated agri-export facility at the port. The state-of-the-art agricultural facility will be set up in an area of 67,422 square metres. Warehouse capacity for grains and dry goods will also be increased by 12,000 tonnes.
1800 tonnes of frozen stores and 5800 tonnes of cold storage will be added at the port.
