Ahead of the beginning of the much-awaited Games, Indian PM Narendra Modi sent his regards and best wishes to the 117-person strong Indian contingent representing the nation at the Olympics this time around.
The capital city of France braces itself for one of the memorable evenings as the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics is almost underway, with thousands of athletee sailing through central Paris.
The Indian contingent will kick off their campaign with 117 athletes set to partake in 69 medal events across 16 sports: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Equestrian, Golf, Hockey, Judo, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table tennis and Tennis.
Our athletes’ aim? Just one: to outdo the record medal haul from Tokyo 2022, comprising seven medals, including a gold.

Table Tennis star Sharath Kamal and ace shuttler PV Sindhu will carry the Indian flag at the head of the pack in a lifetime honour for an athlete.
The Paris parade will see up to 7,500 competitors travel down a six-kilometre (four-mile) stretch of the river Seine on a flotilla of 85 boats.
Compared to the Covid-blighted 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were delayed by a year and opened in an empty stadium, the ambitious walk of Paris will take place in front of 300,000 cheering spectators and an audience of VIPs and celebrities from around the world.
The Games shall kick off on July 27, with India partaking in 6 of the 16 events on the initial day: Rowing, Badminton, Shooting, Table Tennis, Tennis and Hockey.
