Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has challenged the election of SP MP Ram Bhual Nishad from Sultanpur in the Lucknow High Court. Maneka has accused Nishad of hiding criminal cases.

He said in the petition filed in the court that the SP MP has given information in the affidavit that 8 cases are registered against him. Whereas 12 cases are registered against him.
Maneka Gandhi appeared before the Senior Registrar Court of Lucknow Bench on Saturday with her lawyer Prashant Singh Atal. Her lawyer said that the SP MP has hidden her criminal offences in the petition.
Maneka Gandhi reached the Senior Registrar Court, Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court.
He said in the petition that information about a case registered against Ram Bhual in Pipraich police station of Gorakhpur district has been hidden. At the same time, information about two cases registered in Barhalganj police station was not given. Similarly, information about a criminal case of Madanpur police station of Deoria has not been shared. In the petition, a demand has been made to cancel the election of Ram Bhual Nishad and declare the petitioner Maneka Gandhi elected.

SP’s Rambhual Nishad defeated former BJP MP Maneka Gandhi by 43174 votes from Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat. Maneka Gandhi won the Sultanpur seat in the year 2019, before that her son Varun Gandhi had won this seat in 2014. However, this time Maneka could not win. Now she has demanded the cancellation of the election.
Eight-time MP, lost on the ninth occasion
Maneka Gandhi has been associated with Pilibhit since 1989, after which she won the elections of 1996, 98, 99, 2004 from there. In 2009, she left the Pilibhit seat for Varun and herself was elected from Aonla. In 2014, she returned to Pilibhit once again and in 2019 she won from Sultanpur. She was elected to the Lok Sabha eight times. But she had to face defeat for the ninth time.
