In Aliganj area of ​​Lucknow, a retired FCI employee, troubled by illness, shot himself on Saturday night. He was found dead on a chair in the room. The bullet had passed through his neck. Police reached the spot after getting the information and sent the body for postmortem.

According to the police, Lakshmi Shankar Mishra (76), a resident of Shankarji Puram in Triveni Nagar, was a retired employee of FCI. Son Harish told the police, “After having dinner on Saturday, my father went to his room. At around 11 pm, a gunshot was heard from the room. When we rushed there, my father was lying on a chair soaked in blood.”

He died on the spot as the bullet passed through his neck. His licensed gun was lying nearby. He is survived by his wife and two sons. According to ACP Aliganj, no suicide note has been found near Laxmi Shankar.

It is being said that it was a suicide due to illness. Initial investigation has revealed that Lakshmi Shankar shot himself with his own gun. The gun has been seized and sent for license cancellation. Further action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report.
