The Indian team has started the Sri Lankan tour with a victory. Team India defeated the hosts by a huge margin of 43 runs in the first match of the 5-match T20 series.
After losing the toss in Pallekele, the Indian team batting first scored 213 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Team India scored more than 200 runs for the 35th time in T-20 International. The Australian team has done this 23 times. In the reply innings, the Sri Lankan team was all out for 170 runs in 19.2 overs.

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant hit a six by playing a helicopter short on the fourth ball of the 16th over. Asith Fernando bowled this ball as a low-full-toss, which Pant hit outside the boundary.

Ravi Bishnoi got injured while trying to take a catch on the follow-through. The ball hit his face below the eye. Kamindu Mendis played the first ball of the 16th over towards the non-strike. Ravi dived to catch the ball but missed it. The ball fell on the ground before Bishnoi and bounced and hit his face. The game had to be stopped for some time due to the injury.
