Usha Devi (52 years), a resident of Katghar in the city area of ​​​​Bareilly, went to worship at the Madhi located near Kharoa village in CB Ganj area on 19 July. During this time, the woman did not return till night. The family members searched for her, but could not find any trace of the woman. The next day the body of the woman was found lying about 100 meters from the temple, some distance from the main road in CB Ganj area. Police said that injury marks were found on the woman’s body, marks were also found on the neck. Police were suspecting murder by strangulation. After which the forensic team also investigated. The post-mortem report confirmed that she was killed by strangulation.

The murder was committed on the night of 19 July

SP City Rahul Bhati, while revealing the incident in a press conference, said that the woman used to stay in the temple most of the time. Where she had close relations with the priest Dhakanlal. Only the family members knew this. On the day of the incident, the woman went to the temple at 8 am, in the evening the woman talked to her daughter and son. But at night the priest strangled the woman to death. After that, the body was thrown at some distance nearby. When the family members came to search for her at night, the priest was not letting them go to the place where the body was lying.

The next day in the afternoon, when some people saw the dead body of the woman, the priest reached the spot and informed the woman’s family while defending himself. After that the police reached the spot. The priest was also suspected on the basis of the mobile call details. The people around had told the police that both of them were seen together at the temple on the day of the incident. The people around also knew about the closeness between the two.

But she used to come to the temple even after that. The priest had told that the woman had no income to run her family, so the priest used to give half of the offerings made to the temple to Usha.
