ACP Siddharth Gautam said- Police of Shalimar Garden police station was checking the road coming from Shalimar Garden in front of ESI hospital. Then a person riding a motorcycle was seen coming from Aradhana cut. When he was signaled to stop, he did not stop and turned his motorcycle to the right and started running fast. When the police chased him on suspicion, in panic his bike slipped and fell in front of DAV School Gate No. 3. The fleeing miscreant started firing at the police. In the retaliatory action taken by the police team in self-defense, the miscreant got injured after being shot in the leg.
A stolen bike has been recovered from the accused.
The culprit has been identified as 26-year-old Anas. He is a resident of Rajiv Colony DLF in Shalimar Garden police station area. A stolen bike, Rs 2500, pistol and cartridges have been recovered from him. About 30 cases are registered against the accused in Ghaziabad and Delhi.
