Aliganj police of Lucknow has arrested a cunning chain snatcher. The accused used to commit the crime alone and then run away on a scooty. Police have recovered the gold chain and the scooty used in the crime from the accused. Police is investigating about other incidents.

According to the information, Rajat Singh, son of Bharat Singh, a resident of Sector-CS Extension, Sitapur Road, Aliganj, filed a complaint on July 19. He told that his mother was going to show Dr. CG Agarwal to Niralanagar by e-rickshaw. After going a little distance, an unknown youth riding a scooter in front of Ahibharanpur Power House took away the gold chain from her neck and fled.
Looking at the seriousness of the case, a police team was formed. The police was looking for the accused with the help of CCTV and surveillance. The police was patrolling on Saturday. Then at 8:40 pm, information was received that one of the accused who looted a woman was present on Bandha Road. He was waiting for a customer to sell the looted goods. The team left on the basis of information. On seeing the police, the youth tried to run away. The police surrounded him and caught him.

During interrogation, the accused was identified as Ashwini Kumar (26) son of Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Hussainganj, Lucknow. The accused works as a cleaner. During interrogation, the miscreant first misled the police, but upon strict interrogation, he confessed to committing the robbery. The accused told that a few days ago he had snatched the chain from the neck of a woman sitting in an e-rickshaw and fled on his scooter.
He tried to sell it at many places but could not sell it due to lack of receipt. During this time he was waiting for a customer to sell the chain. Then the police caught him. When asked for the vehicle papers, he could not show them. Inspector Vinod Kumar Tiwari said that the accused was identified by checking about 40 cameras. He used to commit the crime by bending the number plate of the scooter.
