Local people have started protesting against the waste treatment plant (NTPC) built in Ramna, Varanasi. Women and men of the local village are protesting against the plant by blocking the Dafi road. They say that people are suffering from the smoke coming out of the plant.

Protest started by blocking Dafi Road
Aman Yadav, who was a part of the protest, said that for the last 6 months we have been protesting against this plant because it is spreading diseases in the village, people are not only facing difficulty in breathing, but the small black smoke coming out of it is spreading on the roofs of our houses. He said that we have also given a memorandum to the District Officer regarding this, but till now our matter has not been heard.
Seeing the protest by the local people, the police reached the spot.
Demanding to shut down the plant
Seeing the protest of the local people, the police administration has also reached the spot. People are being given permission to end the protest but the local people protesting say that we will continue our protest until our demands are met. In protest, the local people troubled by the plant say that the people of Naupura, Ramna, Tarapur, Sir Govardhanpur are troubled by the smoke coming out of the plant, so they are registering their protest by blocking the Dafi road.
