Arjun Babuta finished fourth in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Arjun Babuta, the Indian shooter in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Paris Olympics 2024, finished in fourth position at the Chateauroux on Monday.

Babuta was off to a strong start in the first two rounds of five shots each where he amassed a score of 105.1 to place him at third spot and just 0.1 points away from second place.

In a game of minute margins, Babuta could catch up to the leader, Lihao Sheng at the end of the third round but did not capitalise due to a poor fourth round, extending the gap to 1.3 points.

Babuta despite the shaky start to the fifth round, maintained the second spot while the Croatian, Miran Maricic shared the second position with a 21.6 points round. Meanwhile, the leader Sheng was able to extend his lead with a near-perfect shot worth 10.9 points to widen the gap to two points.

However, the 25-year-old shooter from Punjab was not able to maintain his position as he dropped down to fourth by the end of the sixth round and was not able to catch up.
