To maintain a ragging-free campus environment
Prof. Shalabh, Dean of Academic Affairs, said that IIT Kanpur maintains a ragging-free campus environment through its unique mentor-mentee system. In this system, senior students are assigned to guide and support 5-6 new peers, to ensure their safe and smooth integration into campus life. This system helps new students adapt more easily and promotes the building of strong relationships across different classes and subjects.
Along with this, IIT Kanpur has set up a central anti-ragging committee to manage and enforce the rules against ragging. Each hall also has its own unit which works in conjunction with the central committee to ensure that the campus remains free from any kind of harassment.
