Now let me tell you what is said in the guidelines…?
Committee formed to inspect the basement of buildings
The Additional Chief Secretary directed the officers to constitute a team of junior engineer, assistant engineer and zonal officer for intensive investigation regarding control of illegal activities going on in the basements of the constructions situated in their respective areas, especially in the parking area and to ensure standard safety measures and ensure necessary legal action along with regular inspection and monitoring of such places. It should also be ensured that the purpose in the basement is as per the approved norms and map.
Action should be taken where things are not built as per the map
The officers were told that all the buildings across the state whose map has not been approved or whose basements have been constructed without map approval or in contravention of the approved map, should be identified and action should be taken against them.
Do not dig in the basement during monsoon
All the authorities of the state have been directed by the Additional Chief Secretary that in any building of the state where the map for basement has been approved, it should be ensured that digging is not done during monsoon.
If basement is excavated, the beads should be kept in mind
If digging of a building under construction becomes necessary for any reason, then it should be done with proper standard safety measures so that there is no danger to life or property of the people residing there, the workers working there or others.
• If digging is carried out even after monsoon, then special attention should be paid to safety measures at such places, so that no untoward incident takes place. If any incident takes place, then the responsibility will be of the team constituted for inspection, authorities/special area development authorities and the competent authority of the entire regulated area.
•It should be ensured that details of action taken on the above by all the authorities, Special Area Development Authority and Regulated Area along with the list are made available to the Government within three working days.
