The police arrested the absconding accused of raping an eight-year-old innocent resident of a village in Pannuganj police station area of Sonbhadra on Tuesday. After interrogation, a case was registered under POCSO Act and other sections of BNNS including rape and the accused was challaned.

On 28th July, in a village of Pannuganj police station area of Sonbhadra, at 9:15 in the morning, an innocent child of a family was swinging on a swing near her house. The family members were busy doing other work outside the house.
It is alleged that at that time Sikandar, resident of Unchi Khurd, Police Station Pannuganj, reached there and after luring the innocent girl, took her to the verandah of a nearby house. He raped her there. During that time, a woman noticed him and the accused fled from there.
According to the police spokesperson, the police team led by SI Ramgyan Singh Yadav received information on Tuesday that the accused of rape was standing near Belkhuri turn. The police team raided and arrested the accused. After interrogation, he was challaned to the court.
