In Etawah, a marathon organised to spread awareness about AIDS in the scorching heat of the afternoon on Tuesday was a complete mess. Organised by the District Tuberculosis Department, the marathon started from the Collectorate and ended at the TV Hospital.

About 125 medical students and 2 dozen transgenders participated in the marathon. However, due to the scorching heat, most of the participants were forced to complete the race by taking the help of ambulances and e-rickshaws. The absence of traffic police and home guards during the marathon raised questions about security.
After the marathon ended, there were incidents of fighting and abuse among eunuchs for water. The District Tuberculosis Officer said that the program was scheduled to be held at 9 am, but it started late. Correspondence was also done regarding traffic police and security arrangements, but no action was taken.
Chief Medical Officer Geetaram said that this marathon was organized with the aim of spreading awareness among the youth about AIDS and the main reason for the delay was the late arrival of the institutions.
