1. Inaugural Session of ‘Journey Towards Developed India’: On July 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of ‘Journey Towards Developed India’ at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. PM Modi announced Rs 75,000 for each house under the Surya Ghar Yojana.
PM Modi said that we are moving forward in sectors like green hydrogen and electric vehicles.
- Confederation of Indian Industry i.e. CII organised this conference.
- The conference outlined the government’s vision for the country’s development and the role of the industry in this effort.
- Over 1000 participants from various sectors including industry, government, diplomatic community and think tanks attended the conference.

2. Laxman Prasad Acharya became the Governor of Assam: On 30 July, Laxman Prasad Acharya took oath as the Governor of Assam. He replaced Gulab Chand Kataria, who was appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Guwahati High Court Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi administered the oath of office to Acharya.
- Acharya was the 17th Governor of Sikkim from 2023 to 2024.
- He was a Member of Legislative Council from Uttar Pradesh from 2015 to 2023.
- In 1996, Acharya was appointed the district president of the BJP for Varanasi district.
- In 2002, he was promoted as the regional minister of Kashi region in the BJP.
- Laxman Prasad Acharya was born on 3 October 1954 in Varanasi.

3. Manu-Sarabjot won bronze in pistol mixed: On 30 July, the pair of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated Korea 16-10 in the bronze medal match of the 10m pistol mixed team event. Manu became the first Indian woman to win two medals in the same Olympic Games.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh gave India its second medal at the Paris Olympics.

5. Jiya created a world record by crossing the English Channel: On 29 July, Jiya Roy became the world’s youngest and fastest para swimmer to cross the English Channel. She crossed the English Channel between 28 and 29 July in a time of 17 hours and 25 minutes.
Gia swam across the English Channel from Abbots Cliff in England to Pointe de la Courte-Dune in France.
- 16 year old Jiya covered a distance of 34 kilometres.
- He created a record by swimming 1,100 kilometres in 2022.
- She was part of the 6-member relay team from Mumbai to Goa.
- He swam across the Palk Strait from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in India.
