Criminal incidents are increasing in Prayagraj. In the city’s Georgetown area, miscreants stole jewelry and cash worth lakhs from the house of retired IG late Arvind Kumar Upadhyay. Finding the house empty, the thieves ransacked all the rooms including cupboards and lockers. The window grills in the house were broken.

Late Arvind Kumar Upadhyay, a resident of LIC Colony in Tagore Town of Georgetown police station area, had retired from the post of IG from the police department. He died during treatment during Corona. His wife Vinodini Upadhyay and engineer son lived in the house. These days, the son had gone to Bara city. His wife Vinodini Upadhyay lives alone in the bungalow-like house. On Monday, she went to the house of her medical officer daughter living in Allahpur for Rudrabhishek.
She stayed overnight. She did not come home on Tuesday. During this time the thieves broke the window grill and cleaned out the entire house. 50 thousand rupees in cash, diamonds, gold and silver necklaces, bracelets, chains, jhumkas, earrings, rings, anklets etc. jewellery were missing. The thieves took away about a hundred silver coins which were bought for worship during Diwali.
