A 25-year-old woman, riding on a bike with her husband, was shot dead after altercation with another rider near Gokal Puri Flyover in Delhi on Wednesday
The victim, identified as Simranjeet Kaur, was a resident of Bhalswa Dairy in the national capital.
According to the Delhi Police, the incident happened after Kaur’s husband, Heera Singh, 40, had a verbal altercation with another individual on a two-wheeler. The dispute arose when their vehicles almost brushed against each other.
“At about 3:15 PM, a person Heera Singh (40) was going towards Maujpur along with his wife Simranjeet Kaur (30) on his Bullet motorcycle. He had a verbal spat with one person on a two-wheeler near Gokal Puri Flyover after their vehicles almost brushed against each other,” the police stated.
Following the argument, an assailant fired a single shot from the flyover, approximately 30-35 feet below, striking Kaur in the upper chest near her neck, the police stated.
Despite immediate medical attention, Kaur was declared dead upon arrival at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.
A murder case has been filed, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
“Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the assailant. Further investigation is in progress,” the police noted.
