If you can take Friday off, you can enjoy a four-day long holiday especially if your school, college, or office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Similarly, Raksha Bandhan falls on August 19 while the auspicious festival of Janmashtami falls on August 26. This means you can get a long weekend if you have Saturdays and Sundays off. You can extend your Independence Day weekend if you have a holiday in Raksha Bandhan.

The holiday policy for Saturdays varies by school or institution. Some schools close every Saturday, while the other schools have holidays on the second or last Saturday. In August 2024, there are 5 Saturdays (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st) and 4 Sundays (4th, 11th, 18th and 25th).
